Beginners How to Use Your Sewing Machine (Half Day Course)

During this half day course you will learn how to use your sewing machine and what it can do. You will make a simple needle case to take home.

Not all sewing machines are the same - and because you bring your own to the class, you will learn very specifically about your machine.

You will learn about:
- Threading your machine and winding the bobbin
- How to change the needle
- Tension - what it does and how to adjust it correctly
- Stitch pattern, length and width
- Looking at what the different presser feet can do

Alison's workshops are relaxed and fun. You will learn skills, gain confidence and take home something that you are proud to have made, whether a complete beginner or more advanced.

NB If your machine has an instruction manual please make sure you bring it along with you. You will be given a booklet in which to make your own notes and to put your stitch samples in for future reference.

Course Price: £43.00
This will include refreshments
It will also include a folder and fabric for samples and the needle case.

A note from the wonderful course instructor, Alison:

I'm Alison Burleigh and have a passion for textiles and craft - sewing, patchwork, quilting and crochet are some of my favourites. Through experimenting and using different techniques as a teenager I made and designed a lot of my own clothes. I have studied Creative Embroidery with City in Guilds. A few years ago I was selected and sponsored to go on a 3 week textile tour of Peru taking part in workshops taught by the local people. This trip inspired me to set up a craft club with a friend teaching workshops. Recently I have been enjoying taking vintage fabrics and embroideries and turning them into something new.

If you have any specific questions about the course itself you are welcome to drop us a line or call or email Alison directly at ali.burleigh@gmail.com or 07812338948
